This item is to provide an update to the City Commission regarding the transportation funding allocated through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Explanation
At a meeting held on Friday, February 13, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) provided the following information regarding the distribution of the $1.346 billion for highways and bridges and the $310.7 million for transit that is planned to be distributed to the FDOT through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Highways & Bridges
$902 million - State Discretion
$404 million - Formula Distribution (Surface Transportation Program)
$ 40 million - Enhancements

$1.346 billion - Total

All funds will be distributed through FDOT. Local Agency Participation agreements will be required for any funds distributed to local governments. For the formula distribution it appears that FDOT's District 2 is expected to receive approximately $48 million.

Based on funding eligibility criteria requirements, the FDOT is recommending stimulus funding for the following projects in Alachua County: The Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization (MTPO) will have an opportunity to make recommendations on priorities for the MTPO's area at a special meeting on March 2.

Alachua County:
1 North Main Street (NW 8th Ave - NW 23rd Ave. Resurfacing): $2,900,000
2 CR 236 (US 441- I-75. Resurfacing): $4,090,000
3 US 27/US 41 (Intersection improvements at Archery Center): $ 153,000

Subtotal $7,143,000

City of Gainesville:
