An ordinance of the City of Gainesville amending Section 14.5-27 of the Gainesville Code of Ordinances relating to the maximum allowable fees and charges that may be charged for trespass towing; providing directions to the codifier; providing a severability clause; providing a repealing clause; and providing an effective date.

explanation
At its meeting on November 10, 2003, the City Commission authorized the City Attorney to prepare and the Clerk to advertise the above proposed ordinance.
The proposed ordinance omits the actual amount of maximum allowable trespass towing rate. The maximum rate for calendar year 2004 will be authorized by Resolution of the City Commission at the meeting of December 8, 2003. The ordinance also prohibits any additional fees except as specifically authorized by ordinance or state statute during the first 24 hours after the tow. The ordinance takes effect on January 1, 2004.
