Joint Participation Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to fund a Transit Passenger and Bicycle Commuter Facility on the University of Florida Campus
Explanation
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has made available $100,000 in its Fiscal Year 1998-1999 Work Program to construct a transit passenger and bicycle commuter facility at a park and ride lot to be constructed west of S.W. 34th Street at Hull Road. Regional Transit System (RTS) buses will serve this park and ride lot. The City of Gainesville and the University of Florida will need to enter into an agreement for the construction of the facility, subject to approval of the City Attorney as to form and legality.
Fiscal Note
The University of Florida will provide the entire required local share of $100,000 for the facility. The buses to be operated to the new park and ride lot will be paid for by the University of Florida through its agreement with the City for campus bus services.
Recommendation
The City Commission: 1) approve the resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a joint participation agreement with FDOT to fund a transit passenger and bicycle commuter facility on the University of Florida Campus; and 2) authorize the Mayor and Clerk of the Commission to execute the resolution subject to approval by the City Attorney as to form and legality.
