Explanation
The City of Gainesville's Department of Leisure Services, Parks Division solicited bids for the contract for grounds maintenance at the Thomas Center. Vendors were asked to bid on two items: 1) Grounds maintenance (mowing edging, pruning, etc.) and parking lot debris removal, and 2) Grounds maintenance only. Funds are available for this contract in the Parks Division's Fiscal Year 2006 contractual services budget.
Recommendation
Recommended Motion: The City Commission: 1) approve the awarding of the contract for grounds maintenance at the Thomas Center Gardens to Sunshine State Lawn Service, Inc. in the amount of $21,500 per year, subject to the approval of the City Attorney as to form and legality; and 2) approve the issuance of a Purchase Order in the amount of $21,500 annually for the three year term of the contract.
Alternative Recommendation A: The City Commission award the contract to the higher bidder, E.W. Reshard, for $23,100.
Alternative Recommendation B: The City's Department of Leisure Services provide grounds maintenance services to the Thomas Center at a cost to be determined.
