Explanation
The City of Gainesville developed a voluntary Affirmative Action Plan utilizing guidelines established for federal contractors by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) as a model in 1996 and has implemented such a plan continuously since then. The City Commission approved the City's current Affirmative Action Policy in July 1999. The City's Charter Officers have the overall responsibility for implementing the Affirmative Action Policy. The Equal Opportunity Director's duties include presenting the Affirmative Action Plan to the City Commission and providing reports on progress made.
