Discussion of Naming Process for Park Located at JJ Finley Elementary School (NB)

Explanation

During the previous PRPB February meeting, the Board received a petition to name the park located at JJ Finley Elementary School to Josiah T Walls Park. On June 16, 2020, the School Board of Alachua County voted to rename JJ Finley Elementary School to Carolyn Beatrice Parker Elementary School. Subsequently, as the park located at the school is not City owned property, staff are working with the SBAC to amend the original contract reflecting the school's name change. Through this process, the SBAC intends to also formally name the park space to reflect the schools new name.
