This item is a request for the General Policy Committee to discuss the status of the Solid Waste Partnership with Alachua County.

Explanation

The City Of Gainesville and Alachua County entered into an Interlocal Agreement for Solid Waste Management Services that expires December 31, 2018.  Alachua County and New River Solid Waste Association have an Interlocal Agreement for solid waste disposal that also expires December 31, 2018.  Alachua County is in the process of evaluating alternatives for solid waste disposal; City of Gainesville should also evaluate these alternatives and be ready to discuss the Solid Waste Partnership with Alachua County beyond December 31, 2018.

Recommendation

The General Policy Committee hear a presentation regarding the status of the Solid Waste Partnership with Alachua County and to consider options for moving forward.
