Title State Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund (LECFTF) Funding for the GPD Mounted Patrol Unit Explanation On October 13, 1997, the City Commission approved $30,310 in LECFTF funding for the formation of a Mounted Patrol Unit, which included costs for two horses, transportation, equipment, training, and first year funding. On January 12, 1998, the City Commission approved an additional $12,700 in LECFTF funding for a third member of the Mounted Patrol Unit. This additional funding covered the purchase of a third horse, equipment, training, and the associated maintenance of the horse. Total approved LECFTF funding for the first year of the Mounted Patrol Unit was $43,010. Funding for the second year of the Mounted Patrol Unit is projected at $20,000. This second year figure represents additional training, equipment and supplies, veterinary and contractual service expenses, and capital outlay. Fiscal Note Funds for this request ($20,000) are available in the State Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund, as allowed under FSS 932.7055(4)(a). The balance of the State Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund is $79,815. Recommendation The City Commission approve the appropriation and expenditure of $20,000 from the State LECFTF account for second year funding of the Mounted Patrol Unit.
