Title
City-County Traffic Engineering Services Agreement For Fiscal Year 1998-99

Explanation
For twenty-one (21) years, the City of Gainesville and Alachua County have entered into an annual agreement for maintenance of traffic signals and traffic engineering services. Under terms of this agreement, the City of Gainesville maintains and operates all traffic signals, flashing school beacons and flashing warning beacons in the unincorporated area of Alachua County. In addition, the City assists Alachua County with traffic signal design and construction inspection activities. The agreement also provides a mechanism for the County to reimburse the City for traffic counts, traffic accident studies and traffic signal design activities the City performs for the County.

This agreement, which is identical in scope and services to the existing agreement, will be effective upon approval by both parties and terminates September 30, 1999.

Also, the agreement provides a mechanism for the County to reimburse the City for routine traffic engineering services the City provides.

The County's contribution for traffic signal maintenance is based on the current number of traffic signals in operation in the unincorporated Alachua County. The County will pay the City $118,857.60, plus costs for materials for traffic signal maintenance and operation for FY 1998-99.

Recommendation
The City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute the Traffic Engineering Services Agreement between the City and Alachua C...
