Explanation

The Department of Cultural Affairs proposes amending the Thomas Center A Building Use Regulations fee structure to increase the reservation deposit from $50.00 to $100.00.  This deposit shall continue to be applied to the contract fee for facility rental, and will not represent an increase in total cost to citizens for use of the Thomas Center facilities.  Reservations are taken up to two years in advance, and this increase in deposit is designed to discourage casual or double booking of facilities, resulting in last-minute cancellations and the loss of potential revenue due to non-use of the building.

Fiscal Note

Anticipated revenue increase of $2000 per fiscal year due to increase in the total number of bookings.

Recommendation

The City Commission approve the Building Use Agreement for Thomas Center Building A to increase the non-refundable reservation deposit to $100 upon approval of the City Attorney as to form and legality.
