City Commissioner Warren Nielsen - Tree Ordinance Enforcement (NB)
Explanation
The current enforcement of the tree ordinance and the requirement for trees on approved site plans are delegated administratively to the Tree Arborist in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs.
Recommendation
The City Commission requests that due to the limited number of Tree Arborists on City staff, the daily loss of required trees, the deleterious effect on our tree canopy, and the health of our environment that the City Manager determine the programmatic effect of expanding enforcement of the City's Tree Ordinance and site plan enforcement of the tree requirements on exiting developments and specifically delegating and co-assigning enforcement to the Code Enforcement Division of the City.
