The City Commission: 1) at this time take no further action to amend the city charter; and 2) allow the Charter Review Committee to reconvene after the April City Elections to discuss any additional amendments to the city charter.
explanation
The Charter Review Committee at its meeting of Tuesday, November 26, 2002, reviewed the canvassing reports prepared by the Supervisor of Elections and discussed the outcome of the election. The City Commission is currently proceeding with the adoption of four election districts. The next city election will include 2 new seats with the district commissioner elected for an initial term of one year, and the at-large commissioner elected for an initial term of two years.
Based upon the outcome of the election, the Committee recommends that the City Commission take no further action at this time to amend the City Charter. With the consent of the Commission, the Committee will reconvene after the April 2003 elections, and discuss any additional amendments to the Charter relating to city elections.
