This is a request for the City Commission to approve an agreement between the School Board of Alachua County and the City of Gainesville for teachers at the Reichert House.

Explanation

The School Board of Alachua County and the City of Gainesville desire to work together to provide teachers to the Reichert House for an afterschool program designed for Alachua County youth ages 12 - 17 in need of assistance.  The School Board is willing to provide reimbursement for the salary for three (3) part-time teachers. The Gainesville Police Department currently has three temporary part time slots for the school teachers.   Prior to this arrangement being proposed the School Board through the 21^st Century Grant would reimburse the City for three part time school teachers for tutoring services at the Reichert House.  The 21^st Century Grant ended on July 31, 2014.

Fiscal Note

The City would be reimbursed up to $80,000 for three teachers performing educational services at the Reichert House.

Recommendation

The City Commission: approve the agreement between the City of Gainesville and the School Board of Alachua County for the three teacher positions to be reimbursed subject to approval of the City Attorney as to form and legality.
