Regional Transit System Creative Services Management (B)
Explanation
Regional Transit System (RTS) provides marketing and advertising material to citizens in the City of Gainesville and unincorporated areas of Alachua County. On February 17, 2000, Group 5 & Associates, Inc. was awarded a contract to provide and manage all creative services, including print production, media scheduling (print, television and radio), and web site maintenance. Based upon the provisions of the original contract, item number 2 states, "The contract period for work under this agreement shall commence upon final execution and continue until September 30, 2000. At the end of the contract period, upon satisfactory performance, the City, may, at its option, negotiate and extend the contract for up to three additional one year periods." Group 5 & Associates, Inc. has done an admirable job improving Regional Transit System's image in the community and providing a consistent media message. Proof of their marketing efforts is our increased ridership and need for service enhancements.
Fiscal Note
The contract budget is $173,500 and is funded by FDOT Joint Participation Agreement, bus advertising program, and RTS Operating revenue.
Recommendation
The City Commission: 1) approve a one year extension of the existing contract to Group 5 & Associates, Inc.; and 2) authorize the City Manager or his designee to execute the contract extension, subject to approval by the City Attorney as to form and legality.
