Explanation
On May 23, 2005 this item was referred to the Personnel & Organizational (P&O) Structure Committee. At the July 5, 2005 P&O Committee meeting, the Committee discussed this item and requested that Human Resources Director Tom Motes contact other peer cities to see what compensations other cities have and to bring this item back to the Committee for further discussion. On August 2, 2005, staff reviewed the information report from Mr. Motes and requested that he schedule a meeting with Charlie Hauck, Assistant City Attorney, to establish the compensation requirements for special pay criteria /guidelines of working in an acting Charter Officer position. On October 4, 2005, this item was again discussed and the Committee requested that the Attorney's Office work on the language presented, and to bring this before the City Commission for approval at the October 24, 2005 City Commission meeting.

Recommendation
The Personnel & Organizational Structure Committee request City Commission to: 1) accept the criteria for setting compensation for "Acting Charter Officer" position; and 2) approve removing this item from the Personnel & Organizational Structure Committee referral list.
