Title
Archery License Agreement
Explanation
In 1980, the City began to support archery range services with Gator Bowmen for the use of 135 acres at the Gainesville-Alachua County Regional Airport (airport). Since that time, the acreage used for this program has been reduced to 52.3 acres.
The purpose of the Archery License Agreement is for the City to assist in providing archery range services at the airport. The agreement will allow the Licensee and its respective employees, agents, invitees, and sublicensees to use the property for nonaeronautical activity (Archery Range/Trails for public recreation).
Fiscal Note
Payment is based on fair market rental value for the use of the property as determined by a completed appraisal. The contract price per acre will reflect $142.22 per acre, per year. Funding for FY 96-98 is available in a reserve account and funding for the FY 98-99 is currently allocated in the Recreation and Parks budget.
The amount owed for January 1, 1996, through October 31, 1996, was for 135 acres which totals $15,999.75; November 1, 1996, through December 31, 1997, for 80 acres which totals $13,273.87; and January 1, 1998, through December 31, 1998 for 52.3 acres which totals $7,438.11.
Recommendation
The City Commission: 1) approve the Archery License Agreement with Gainesville-Alachua County Regional Airport Authority for lease of airport and airport facilities for continued operation of an Archery Range located on airport property for a period of time not to exceed five years (December 31, 2003) upon approval of the City Attorney as to form and legality; 2) approve the payment of $36,711.72 for the period January 1, 1996, through December 31, 1998; and 3) approve the annual payment of $7,438.11 by January 1 of each succeeding year effective January 1, 1999, for the next annual period thereafter until the License Agreement is terminated as herein provided.
