Title
Gainesville Fire Rescue Community Resource Paramedic Program Update (B)
Explanation
Gainesville Fire Rescue’s Community Resource Paramedic Program (CRP) has been in development for the past five years and continues to make gains as an innovative solution for citizens who fall through gaps in our current healthcare system and, as a result, over utilize the hospital and the 911 system. The program brings solutions and resources into the patients’ homes and empowers them to have greater control over managing their chronic healthcare needs with the goal of reducing and eliminating crises requiring emergent care. In FY2019, the City committed to staffing one full-time program manager to ensure continued growth and success of the program. Program Manager Ariella Bak works closely with local partners, such as UF Health’s Dr. Lisa Chacko, to provide services to members of vulnerable populations and to develop metrics to measure success. The program was presented at the General Policy Committee meeting on June 28, 2018 and the Committee directed staff to report back in six months to give an update.
