Explanation

The City annually prepares a Citizen's Report, which is submitted to the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) award program for excellence in Popular Reporting.  The City has participated in the Popular Reporting Program since its inception in 1990.  The first three years of the program offered awards to only the top three reports submitted.  The City of Gainesville received the award two out of those three years.  Beginning in 1993, the GFOA began its Certificate Program.  The City of Gainesville has received the Certificate for each year.
