Explanation

The University of Florida Center for Construction and Environment has proposed that the City participate in a grant proposal that would fund a design competition in coordination with a City redevelopment, public works or public space enhancement project.  The Center has considered the possibilities of this design competition applying to the redevelopment of the Stringfellow building on University Avenue (recently acquired by the City and soon to be the subject of a request for proposals for redevelopment by the CRA) or to the proposed 6th Street rail trail.

Fiscal Note

The proposal requires matching funds, which would include $15,000 in payment by the City for honoraria for the design competition.

Recommendation

Hear a proposal from Brad Guy of the Center for Construction Environment, hear an update from City staff, and take appropriate action.
