Explanation
The Gainesville Police Department seeks to vacate the rights-of-way of NW 5th St. from NW 7th Pl. to CSX railroad right-of-way and NW 7th Pl. from NW 5th St. to the east property lines of Tax Parcels 14411-000-000 & 14405-000-000. Public Works advises the City Commission to continue the vacating of NW 7th Pl. to the west right-of-way line of NW 4th St., as no public purpose is served by the land.
The rights-of-way are not paved or maintained, occasionally get overgrown with vegetation, have no public services, and separate some Gainesville Police Department properties from others. Public Works recommends the vacation of the named rights-of-way while retaining an overall utility easement. The rights-of-way were platted as twenty feet wide in Block 25, Brush's Addition to Gainesville, Plat Book "A", page 88, of the Public Records of Alachua County, Florida.
Fiscal Note
Funding in the amount of $500 for administrative costs is available in the Public Works FY 07 operating budget.

Recommended Motion: The City Commission: 1) approve Public Works request to initiate a petition to the Planning Department to vacate the rights-of-way of NW 5th St. from NW 7th Pl. to the CSX railroad right-of-way and NW 7th Pl. from NW 5th St. to the west right-of-way line of NW 4th St., retaining an overall utility easement; and 2) authorize the Planning Department to circulate a petition to the Plan Board to vacate the rights-of-way of NW 5th St. from NW 7th Pl. to the CSX railroad right-of-way and NW 7th Pl. from NW 5th St. to the west right-of-way line...
