Title
Proximity Card Access System (NB)
Explanation
On August 28, 2000 the Commission approved the purchase and installation of the base card access system and funding of $79,115. That portion of the project is nearing completion. At the time of the original approval, the Commission was informed that the option to add additional GRU facilities was included in the contract with SEMCO and that additional authorization would be requested at the time the additional facilities were added.
The change order amount requested includes the following card access additions at the specified GRU locations: gates at Electric System Control, Depot Avenue Warehouse/Construction Yard and Deerhaven Generating Station, two exterior doors and a gate at Main Street Water Reclamation Facility, one exterior door and a gate at Kanapha Water Reclamation Facility as well as an additional interior door at the Utilities Administration Building. These additional locations will be phased in over the next several months.
Recommendations
The City Commission authorize the General Manager, or his designee, to execute a contract amendment with SEMCO Integrated Systems for purchase and installation of Phase II of the card access system, subject to the approval of the City Attorney as to form and legality and approve the issuance of a purchase order change to SEMCO in an amount not to exceed $65,885 (new not to exceed amount $145,000).
Fiscal Note
Funds for the purchase and installation of the card access system are available within the Utilities Capital budget for FY01.
