Title
Increase Purchase Order to Alachua County for Solid Waste Disposal (NB)
Explanation
The Public Works Department's Solid Waste Division is requesting to increase the purchase order to Alachua County by $135,000 for disposal of solid waste at the Leveda Brown Environmental Park Transfer Station. The original purchase order amount of $994,200 was based on an estimate of 21,600 tons of solid waste requiring disposal in the current fiscal year. Through July, the City has disposed of 21,258 tons. This waste includes residential, municipal roll-off, and street-sweeping debris collected through normal operations. The increase in the tonnage generated from all these sources is anticipated to be approximately 4,250 tons. At the current tipping fee of $44 per ton, the projected deficit on the existing purchase order is $135,000.
Fiscal Note
Funds are available in the Solid Waste Enterprise Fund.
Recommendation
The City Commission authorize the increase of the purchase order to Alachua County by $135,000.
