Explanation
The City of Gainesville's Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs (PRCA) has submitted an application for a Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) grant to assist the City in constructing planned park improvements at Hogtown Creek Headwaters Nature Park. Improvements will include a picnic pavilion, tennis court with fence, playground, sidewalks and bicycle parking.
Fiscal Note
The total estimated project cost for future Hogtown Creek Headwaters Nature Park development is $370,750. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection FRDAP grant will provide $172,500 (47%) and the City will contribute $198,250 (53%) which is currently included in the City's FY13-FY17 Capital Improvement Plan.
Recommendation
The City Commission: 1) approve the request to accept a grant, if awarded, from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program to assist the City in constructing planned park improvements at Hogtown Creek Headwaters Nature Park; and 2) if awarded, authorize the City Manager or designee to execute the grant award agreement and other grant-related documents, subject to approval by the City Attorney as to form and legality.
