Explanation

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) allocates service development grant funds for public transit systems each year.  The Regional Transit System (RTS) is currently providing night bus service in the City of Gainesville urbanized area.  This Supplemental Agreement will provide an additional $140,000.00 for the project, funded on a 50-50 matching basis between the FDOT and the City of Gainesville Regional Transit System (RTS).

Fiscal Note

The local match will be provided by the University of Florida Student Government.

Recommendation

The City Commission: 1) approve the resolution authorizing execution of the joint participation agreement with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT); and 2) authorize the Mayor and Clerk of the Commission to execute the Resolution, subject to approval by the City Attorney as to form and legality.
