Security System at the John R. Kelly Generating Station (NB)
Explanation
A system of security cameras are needed at the John R. Kelly Generating Station to provide surveillance of the gates, grounds, structures and other critical areas at this key facility. In October 2002, GRU issued a Request for Proposal for security cameras for the GRU Operations Center. Of the four proposals received, Crime Prevention Security Systems, Inc. submitted the highest evaluated proposal and was awarded the project. On September 8, 2003, the City Commission approved the purchase of a security camera system for the Deerhaven Generating Station from Crime Prevention Security Systems on the basis of them having previously submitted the best evaluated proposal.
Staff obtained a written proposal from Crime Prevention Security Systems for a security camera system at the Kelly Generating Station. Staff has reviewed the proposal and has determined the pricing to be competitive. The Utilities' Security Coordination Committee and Information Technology Oversight Committee have reviewed and endorsed the proposed security camera system. In addition, maintaining continuity between the various security camera systems provides the capability to network the systems in the future. Crime Prevention Security Systems' quality of work and quick response to service requirements is exceptional.
Recommendations
The City Commission approve the issuance of a purchase order to Crime Prevention Security Systems, Inc. for the provision and installation of a system of security cameras at the John R. Kelly Generating Station in the amount of $57,835.
Fiscal Note
Funds for this expense are available in the FY 2004 Utilities capital budget.
