Explanation
On December 23, 1986, the City of Gainesville entered into two consent orders with the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) related to the Gainesville Airbase Landfill and Burn Site located at the Gainesville Regional Airport. The burn site had the contamination removed and the Landfill site has had four wells monitored quarterly by FDEP since 1991.
As requested in December 1997, staff initiated discussions with FDEP to explore the possibility of reducing the monitoring effort of the landfill site. FDEP is requiring additional data before a decision can be made on whether monitoring can be reduced. This amendment is to compensate the consultant for the additional work required by FDEP.
Fiscal Note
Funds are available in the Solid Waste Enterprise Fund, account #420-800-8080-5340-4110.
Recommendation
The City Commission: 1) authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute the Second Amendment to Addendum VIII to the Agreement for Professional Services between the City of Gainesville and QST Environmental, Inc., subject to approval of the City Attorney as to form and legality; and 2) authorize a modification to the Purchase Order in the amount of $3,088.00 (new purchase order not to exceed amount of $16,647.00 and new project amount of $379,899.00).
