Budget Calendar (NB)
The City Commission approve dates for discussion of the FY2011/2012 budget.
Explanation
Staff requests the City Commission approve dates to discuss items related to the FY2011/2012 budget. Topics of discussion will include the 5-year Capital Improvement Plan, Fire Assessment, Strategic Planning Retreat, Town Hall Meetings and the GRU and General Government Budgets.
The Fire Assessment requires approval of an Initial Rate Resolution and a Final Rate Resolution. Staff suggests that we first hold a workshop session in late May to review the results of the study, followed by the Initial Rate Resolution on the regular City Commission meeting of June 3, 2010. The Initial Rate Resolution sets a maximum rate to be included on notices to property owners. Notices must me mailed to property owners 20 days before the final rate resolution. Staff also suggests that we set aside a back-up date for the Initial Rate Resolution should additional time be necessary. The Public Hearing for the Final Rate Resolution is planned for the regular City Commission meeting of July 15, 2010.
