Explanation

Commissioner Scherwin Henry brought this item forward at the November 3, 2011 City Commission Meeting.  It was discussed that the AFLC would look at personnel and organizational issues and that the EDUCC would look at peer cities.  It was also discussed that the two committees would have a joint meeting at the end of their study to put the pieces together to bring back a recommendation to the City Commission.      

Recommendation

The City Commission refer the issue of re-establishing an Economic Development Office to the Audit, Finance and Legislative Committee and the Economic Development/University Community Committee.
