Ground Lease and Site Preparation for Modular Fire Station in the Southwest Service area (B)
This item recommends that the City Commission authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement with The S. Clark Butler Properties Land Trust for the lease of property for a modular fire station which includes costs for site preparation.
Explanation
The City Commission authorized the placement of a modular fire station in the Southwest Service Area on January 5, 2017. A suitable location was identified at the southwest corner of SW 30th Avenue and SW 42nd Street on property owned by The S. Clark Butler Properties Land Trust. The initial agreement with the owner includes a lease of the property for a two-year period at a total cost of $28,800. The agreement also includes Owner’s Improvements for site preparation not to exceed $100,000. The agreement Term/Extension includes the right to extend the lease for two additional one-year terms.
Fiscal Note
Funding for the lease has been identified in Gainesville Fire Rescue’s FY17 general fund budget and is included in the FY18 budget proposal. CIP funding for the construction costs of the site preparation was approved by the Commission on January 5, 2017.
Recommendation
The City Commission authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement subject to approval of the City Attorney as to form and legality.
