Title To provide certification pay to Survey Party Chiefs. Explanation Recent task reorganization initiatives within the Public Works Department have shifted duties previously performed by the Surveyor position, which has been eliminated, to the new Land Rights Coordinator, and the two existing Survey Party Chiefs; The duties which will continue to be provided in-house by the Survey Party Chiefs include Plat Review and Approval, Minor Subdivision Review and Approval, Right of Way & Easement Determination and Field Locations, Real Estate Services Support, and Roadway Construction Projects. The performers of these critical duties must be State of Florida certified Surveyors. Continuing to perform critical surveyor duties in-house rather than through contractors is estimated to be a saving of $50,000 per year. Fiscal Note The fiscal impact in terms of personnel costs is neutral. The Office of Management and Budget concurs with this assessment. Recommendation Personnel & Organizational Structure Committee recommends the City Commission approve payment of $100 certification pay per pay period to Survey Party Chiefs holding a current State of Florida Surveyors license and providing critical services as described above.
