Explanation
The roofs on the T.B. McPherson Recreation Center at 1717 S.E. 15th Street, the Westside Recreation Center at 1001 N.W. 34th Street, Fire Station #3 at 900 N.E. Waldo Road, and Fire Station #5 at 1244 N.W. 30th Avenue are in need of total replacement. The Purchasing Division solicited bids from 156 vendors with four turning in bids. The following companies were the lowest bidders.
T.B. McPherson Recreation Center - Poole Roofing & Sheet Metal - $34,000
Westside Recreation Center - Marion/Service Roofing & A/C Co. - $54,000
Fire Station #3 - Poole Roofing & Sheet Metal - $30,000
Fire Station #5 - Marion/Service Roofing & A/C Co. - $43,000
Fiscal Note
Funds are available in the Facilities Management Departments Operating Capital account. The City Commission approved $45,000 from the GRU lease-in-lease out funds to replace the Westside Recreation Center roof. The balance of funds will come from the Facilities Management Departments Operating Capital account. All amounts include a 10 percent contingency for any hidden conditions.
Recommendation
The City Commission approve the issuance of a Purchase Order to Poole Roofing & Sheet Metal and Marion/Service Roofing & A/C Co. in amounts not to exceed the amounts listed above for the replacement of the roofs on the T.B. McPherson Recreation Center, Westside Recreation Center, Fire Station #3 and Fire Station #5.
