First Amendment to the Contract for Complimentary Paratransit Services FY2009/2010 (B)
This item is a request for approval of a First Amendment to the contract for paratransit services with MV Transportation, Inc. to include additional wording for companion fares, federal requirements, and the installation and disposition of Mobile Data Terminal (MDTs).
Explanation
In 2003, MV Transportation, Inc. signed its first contract with the City of Gainesville to provide complimentary paratransit services to the Gainesville community. Since that time, RTS has paid MV Transportation, Inc. 25% of the regular paratransit fare for companion trips. In January 2009, MV Transportation, Inc. signed a new three-year contract with the City of Gainesville but due to an oversight, the fare rate for the companion trips was not included in the contract. RTS would like to amend the current contract to reflect the companion fare rate.
Secondly, MV Transportation, Inc. is providing trips under two grants, U.S.C. 5316 Job Access Reverse Commute (JARC) and U.S.C. 5317 New Freedom, which were awarded to RTS in 2009. Additional wording needs to be added to the contract to cover federal requirements when providing paratransit service using federal funds, (i.e. client's eligibility under the separate grants, separate invoices and the cost share for the trips provided under the grant). RTS would like to amend the current contract to include that verbiage.
In addition, RTS was awarded two grants in FY2009 to install Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) into the paratransit vehicle fleet. Required verbiage needs to be added to the contract to cover the installation and disposition of the equipment should the contract end prematurely or, if for some reason, the contract is not renewed.
