Title
Federal Legislative Agenda for 2007 (B)
Explanation
On December 5, 2005, the Mayor, Commissioners and staff held meetings with the City's Legislative Consultant, Marilyn Berry Thompson, and the Government Relations Team to develop an annual federal agenda. The annual federal agenda serves as the City's instrument for measuring specific outcomes and achievements at the end of each year. The agenda also helps the City and members of the Florida Congressional Delegation to focus their energies on a very specific set of Federal grant and legislative priorities and initiatives.
Staff is recommending six appropriations initiatives.
1. $9.5 million for the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (consisting of the Depot Regional Stormwater Project and Depot Avenue Reconstruction),
2. $35 million for the Public Transportation Enhancement Initiative (consisting of $2 million for the Regional Transit System Facility Expansion, $3 million for a Multimodal Transportation Center; and $14 million for bus replacements; and $16 million for the Traffic Signalization Initiative),
3. $7.8 million for the Joint Communications Initiative,
4. $8.3 million for the Southeast Gainesville Renaissance Initiative;
5. $2.5 million for the Public Infrastructure Initiative (consisting of $1 million for Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Improvements and $1.5 million for the Wellfield Monitoring Network), and
6. $2.8 million for the Homeless Housing and Services Initiative
