Communities for a Lifetime Initiative (B)

Explanation

On October 14, 2002, the City Commission heard a report from Alachua County Director of Senior Services Rebecca Falmlen and adopted a resolution supporting the State Department of Elder Affairs Initiative to work towards making Florida's communities "Elder Ready".  Based on this resolution of support, City Block Grant Manager Jim Hencin has participated for the past year as a member of the Alachua County Partners for Elder Readiness Team.  This Team has recently completed a report on City responses to the "Communities for a Lifetime Initiative" recommendations.

None at this time.

Recommendation

The City Commission: 1) accept the staff responses to the Communities for a Lifetime Initiative report; 2) authorize the staff responses to be sent to the Alachua County Office of Senior Services; and 3) remove this item from the Personnel & Organizational Structure Committee referral list.
