Title
FAA Grant - Amendment No. 1 (B)
Explanation
During September 1997, the City of Gainesville and the Gainesville-Alachua County Regional Airport Authority (GACRAA), in separate actions, accepted a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) related to several capital improvement projects at the Gainesville Regional Airport. Those projects included:
-Land acquisition and relocation
-Rehabilitate a portion of Runway 10-28 and Taxiway "E"
-Construction of a Compass Calibration Pad
-Acquisition of a Passenger Access Lift for the Mobility Impaired
-Installation of a Baggage Conveyor in the Passenger Terminal
-Drainage Improvments at the Intersection of Taxiway "A-1" and Taxiway "B"
With the exception of the baggage conveyor, all of the above items have been accomplished.
At the Airport's request, FAA has agreed to revise the scope of the existing grant to delete and add specific work items. Item to be deleted is the proposed baggage carrousel in the Passenger Terminal. Items to be added include eligible costs associated with accomplishing Year 2000 compliance requirements and a mobile passenger walkway. The latter item is a piece of equipment which extends telescopically from the Terminal's hold room to the base of the aircraft stairs, to provide protection for enplaning/deplaning passengers during periods of inclement weather.
Recommendation
The City Commission: 1) accept Amendment No. 1 to Grant Agreement for Project No. 3-12-0028-1697; and 2) authorize the Mayor and the Clerk of the Commission to execute the appropriate documents on behalf of the City of Gainesville, subject to approval by the City Attorney as to form and legality.
Fiscal Note
The original grant amount of $2,962,488 remains unchanged. GACRAA provided the local share funding for the FAA grant.
