explanation
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT STAFF REPORT

This petition is part of the overall update of the City's Land Development Regulations. Specifically, these amendments are proposed for Section 30-102, Public service vehicles, which is a specially regulated use. Public service vehicles are defined in Section 30-23 as a mobile unit such as a bloodmobile, bookmobile or X-ray laboratory designed to provide a noncommercial public service in a temporary location. It is recommended that the time that public service vehicles can be parked at a location in a 30-day period be increased from 6 hours to 9 hours, since a 9-hour day coincides with a typical workday. This use is allowed in the majority of non-residential zoning districts and generally takes advantage of the commercial hours of nearby establishments. The other changes include updating the reference to the public works department and making grammatical changes.

Public notice was published in the Gainesville Sun on March 31, 2004. The Plan Board held a public hearing April 15, 2004. Planning Division staff recommended that the Plan Board approve the petition. The Plan Board recommended that the City Commission approve Petition 66TCH-04 PB. Plan Board vote 7-0.
