Title Construction of S.E. 8th Avenue Extension Explanation This project is the construction of the S.E. 8th Avenue extension from S.E. 20th Street east approximately 1270 feet to Hawthorne Road at the S.E. 24th Street signalized intersection. The Purchasing Division solicited bids from 73 vendors. Two responded, with Harlis R. Ellington Construction, Inc., being the low qualified bidder. Fiscal Note Funds are available in project accounts for S.E. 8th Avenue appropriated from 1994 GERRB and 1996 Road Bond funds. Recommendation The City Commission: 1) award the contract for construction of S.E. 8th Avenue Extension to Harlis R. Ellington Construction, Inc.; 2) authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute the contract, subject to approval of the City Attorney as to form and legality; and 3) authorize the issuance of a purchase order to Harlis R. Ellington Construction, Inc., in the amount of $512,468.78.
