This is a request for the City Commission to award the bid to A Plus Homes Inc. DBA Armstrong Homes for the removal and installation of the new roof on the GPD Operations Building located at 721 NW 6th Street, Gainesville, FL 32601
Explanation
On April 2, 2009, the City's Purchasing Division received (13) bids for the removal and installation of the roof on the GPD Operations building at 721 NW 6th Street. The lowest bid meeting specifications was submitted by A Plus Homes Inc. DBA Armstrong Homes with a bid amount of $351,203. Staff is requesting a 10% contingency of $35,120 to cover the cost of replacing the copper and gravel stop/drip edge for a total of $386,323.
Fiscal Note
Funds for the project are included in the budgets for the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) and General Services (GSD) for FY 2009 (GPD=$140,000 and GSD=$300,000).
Recommendation
The City Commission: 1) award the bid to A Plus Homes Inc. DBA Armstrong Homes in the amount of $351,203 and allow a 10% contingency of $35,120; 2) authorize the City Manager to execute the contract, subject to approval by the City Attorney as to form and legality; and 3) issue a purchase order in an amount not to exceed $386,323.
