An Ordinance amending Appendix A, Section UTILITIES (5) Natural Gas, Increasing Natural Gas Base Rates and Adjusting the Manufactured Gas Plant Cost Recovery Factor; Providing for a Repealing Clause; Providing for a Severability Clause; and, Providing an Effective Date in Accordance with the Schedule Provided Herein.

explanation
The City Commission at its meeting of July 24, 2003, authorized the City Attorney's Office to draft an ordinance amending natural gas base rates and adjusting the manufactured gas plant cost recovery factor. In the Proposed Budget for the Combined Utilities System, the General Manager made a recommendation to increase natural gas base rates 2% and adjust the manufactured gas plant cost recovery factor to $0.0321 per therm. Both changes will be effective October 1, 2003. Even with these changes, GRU's natural gas rates remain the lowest in the state.
