Explanation
On September 27, 2007, the City of Gainesville executed an Agreement for Professional Federal Lobbying Services with Ms. Marilyn Berry Thompson. At the time the Agreement was executed, Ms. Thompson was associated with the law firm of Jorden Burt, LLP. In a letter dated January 17, 2008, Ms. Thompson informed the City that she and the Federal Government Relations Team have separated from Jorden Burt, LLP and will now be employed by MWW Group, Inc., a public relations agency.
Ms. Thompson has indicated that the law firm of Jorden Burt, LLP is supportive of her pending move to MWW Group, Inc. and has provided the City with information relative to MWW Group, Inc. Should the Commission elect to continue utilizing Ms. Thompson's services, her current Agreement would need to be amended to reflect Ms. Thompson's employment by MWW Group, Inc. and to permit the City to terminate the Agreement should MWW Group, Inc. assign another employee to fulfill the duties of Marilyn Berry Thompson.

Recommendation
The City Commission: 1) approve the amendment of the Agreement for Professional Federal Lobbying Services to reflect Ms. Thompson's move to MWW Group, Inc.; and 2) direct the City Manager to execute the First Amendment following approval by the City Attorney as to form and legality.
