This item proposes the ratification of the Agreement between the North Central Florida Police Benevolent Association (PBA) Bargaining Unit and the City of Gainesville.
Explanation
This Agreement has been reached through negotiations between the North Central Florida Police Benevolent Association (PBA) Bargaining Unit and the City of Gainesville, and was ratified by the North Central Florida Police Benevolent Association (PBA) Bargaining Unit on August 14, 2008. This Agreement extends the current Collective Bargaining Agreement through September 30, 2011.
A copy of the Agreement is on file in the Office of the Clerk of the Commission. After September 18, 2008, the Agreement will be on file in the Human Resources Department.
A salary survey was conducted in conjunction with these negotiations. The survey indicated that Gainesville Lieutenants are paid approximately 4% below the Florida market. Assuming the market will move at a rate of 3% annually, Gainesville Lieutenants will remain within 4% of the market with these increases.
Fiscal Note
The three year average increase is 4% and the overall financial impact over current salaries is $175,938.21. The funds for FY2009 and FY 2010 are included in the budget. The costs for FY2011 will be addressed in the budget preparation process.
Recommendation
The City Commission ratify the Agreement between the North Central Florida Police Benevolent Association (PBA) Bargaining Unit and the City of Gainesville extending the Agreement through September 30, 2011.
