This is a request for the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to submit a letter to the County Commission outlining City's comments about the project.

Explanation

The SantaFe Village DRI is located on NW 39^th Avenue immediately west of NW 83^rd Street. The DRI was originally approved in 1986, and amended in 1993, to include primarily medical related land uses. The owner now proposes land use changes that will add a mix of uses including office, retail, residential and hotel. The proposed change will result in additional traffic that will impact transportation facilities within City limits. The mitigation for the development centers on the provision of transit facilities and service according to the County's adopted capital improvement element with recommended roadway modification options. The County Planning Commission recommended approval of the petition in December 2009; a date has not been set for the petition to be heard by the County Commission. City staff has drafted a letter to be sent to the County Manager outlining the City's comments on the project; the City Commission discussed this item on April 1, 2010, and recommended revisions to the letter.
