Explanation

This item was brought forward by Commissioner Mastrodicasa at the May 6, 2010 City Commission Meeting and referred to the Public Safety Committee for discussion.  

The Public Safety Committee discussed this referral at its June 16, 2010 meeting and made the decision to review the situation with the teen club downtown in three months.

At the Public Safety Committee meeting on October 11, 2010 GPD staff gave a three month update on the club and informed the Committee that the subject club had gone out of business after only three weeks in operation due to the lack of patrons. In the future if another teen club opens in the Hospitality District, staff will address the issue at that time.

Recommendation

The City Commission remove this referral item from the Public Safety Committee referral list.
