explanation
The City Commission on February 2, 2012, referred this issue to the Audit, Finance and Legislative Committee after it considered the appeals of several advisory board members who did not meet minimum attendance requirements. The City Commission on December 20, 2012, received input from the Audit, Finance and Legislative Committee regarding board attendance requirements and authorized the drafting of this ordinance. This ordinance amends Section 2-247. - Removal from office to provide for a modest number of excused absences per year for the purposes of removal from office, to clarify what constitutes "attendance," and to eliminate the current process for advisory board members to appeal their removal from office for failure to meet board attendance requirements.
