Stormwater District in the Urban Village (NB)

This item is a referral from the City Commission to present options for shared stormwater treatment areas in the UMU2 area west of 34^th Street.

Explanation

Since this item was discussed at the June 2012 Committee meeting there have been final plans developed for Village Point located north of SW 20 Avenue adjacent to the Hull Road Extension.  The Village Point development has been able to fully meet the stormwater treatment requirements on-site.  There have been no other development proposals in the area that have expressed interest in the development of a shared use stormwater treatment facility.  Due to the number of projects staff is currently managing, it is staff's recommendation that this item be removed from the Committee's referral list and the matter be revisited in the event a need is identified.

Fiscal Note

Estimated cost associated with developing shared stormwater treatment basins range from $500,000 to $2,000,000 plus depending on land acquisition costs and type of treatment provided.  

Recommendation

The Recreation, Cultural Affairs and Public Works Committee hear an update from staff and remove this item from the referral list.
