On December 6, 2012, the City Commission adopted Ordinance Nos. 120307 and 120308, which propose to annex into the City of Gainesville, Florida, two areas of unincorporated Alachua County known as "Area 2" and "Area 3," respectively. Ordinance Nos. 120307 and 120308 will be submitted as a referendum on annexation to a vote of the registered electors of "Area 2" and "Area 3" during a special election to be conducted by the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections on Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Pursuant to Sections 9-4 and 9-5 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Gainesville, the City Commission shall adopt this resolution instructing the Mayor to issue a proclamation calling the special election. The proclamation shall then be published in a newspaper of general circulation at least 30 days prior to the special election.
