This item requests that the City Commission appropriate and expend an amount not to exceed $6,200 from the State Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Fund for the subscription purchase of Command Central Software.
Explanation
Command Central Software, the TipSoft software and Tipsoft Alerts is a service offered by the CrimeReports, a public engines service that the Gainesville Police Department uses. The information that is already provided to CrimeReports will be used by the company to provide internal data to our agency. There are other software companies, but none of those companies provide the same data in the detailed customizable format needed for use to fight crime in Gainesville.
Fiscal Impact
Funds for this expenditure are available in the State Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund, as allowed under FSS 932.7055. Balance of the State Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund is $87,150 as of December 31, 2012.
Recommendation
The City Commission approve the amount not to exceed $6,200 for the subscription from March 2013 to February 2014 out of State Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund and approve using CrimeReports as a sole source provider.
