Mobile Parking Software Application (NB)

This item is to provide an update to the Recreation, Cultural Affairs & Public Works Committee regarding potential use of mobile parking software applications and options for digital customer access to parking availability.

Explanation

Staff is in the midst of a bid process for mobile parking application vendors for a pilot program in the downtown area.  There are a variety of options available to implement mobile applications for payment of parking fees with low or no cost to the City for spaces that are currently metered.  To provide mobile applications that allow parkers to check parking availability requires installation of a puck in each space at an estimated cost of $300 each.

Fiscal Note

The fiscal impact will be identified as part of the bid process.

Recommendation

The Recreation, Cultural Affairs & Public Works Committee hear an update and discuss the options for providing mobile parking software applications within the City of Gainesville.
