Land Development Code Update (B)
This is a request for a Special City Commission Meeting to be called for March 30, 2015 for the purpose of having the petition public hearing before the City Commission on the Land Development Code Update.
Explanation
During the past year Planning and Development Services Staff have been meeting with stakeholders to update the land development code based on the direction provided by the City Commission. The code is being updated, among other things, to provide a more predictable and streamlined set of development regulations, reconcile disparate code sections, incorporate best practices by being proactive to the changing economy, and reformatting the code to make it more user friendly by adding tables, charts and graphics. Staff has conducted extensive outreach throughout the community and has held multiple public hearings before the City Plan Board to discuss the varying elements of the update. Staff anticipates the Plan Board will make a final recommendation at the end of 2014 or early 2015 that will then be forwarded to the City Commission. The purpose of this request for a special meeting on the plan board petition is to give the City Commission and stakeholders a dedicated meeting time to fully discuss the petition and make a recommendation.

Recommendation
Planning and Development Services Staff to the City Commission: 1) approve this request for a City Commission Special Meeting to be called for March 30, 2015 starting at 6:00 PM; and 2) direct the Clerk of Commission to schedule the Special Meeting Call on the requested date.
Alternative Recommendation
The City Commission deny staff's request for a Special Meeting call for March 30, 2015; and
direct staff to schedule the petition hearing on a regularly scheduled City Commission meeting.
