Development Review Board Members Appointment (NB)

This is a request for the City Commission to waive the probationary period for newly appointed Development Review Board members.

Explanation

On June 18th, the City Commission appointed two citizens to the Development Review Board. The Land Development Code requires new appointees to the Development Review Board to complete a 60-day probationary period prior to commencement of the term of office.   The exception to this rule is that the City Commission may waive the required probationary period for any appointee to the development review board upon good cause shown and entered in the record of the minutes of the City Commission.

Based on staff’s review of the applications of Mr. Rob Edmunds and Mr. Rick Cain, both appointees have several years of experience working in the development field.  It is staff’s recommendation that the probationary period be waived for these appointees based on their experience.
